CVERA

Capay Valley Emergency Response Auxiliary

Who Are We?

CVERA was formed following the fires in 2020 when local volunteers kept the huge LNU Lightning Complex fire off the Capay Valley floor for several days as it moved north along the State Highway 16 corridor. Because of the unprecedented number of dangerous fires in California at that time, CalFire was unable to come to our aid for several days and this made us aware of the need to form a support group in the Capay Valley trained to provide emergency preparedness and support to local first responders during emergencies.

CVERA is a member of the Yolo County Fire Safe Council which promotes wildfire prevention, wildfire response and wild-fire recovery efforts. We are also planning to form an official Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) as soon as our training is sufficient.

CVERA volunteers work under the direction of Capay Valley Fire Protection District personnel.
